LAHORE: Two more players taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 have tested positive for coronavirus, confirmed the PCB in a press release on Thursday.
According to the cricket board, the players that tested positive for coronavirus are not part of the teams that played matches against one another on Wednesday– which were the Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators and the Multan Sultans.
“Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed three more players from two different teams have tested positive for COVID-19 and they will now self-isolate for 10 days,” said the PSL in a statement.
Considering that the players were not part of the four teams that played the two games on Wednesday, it is highly likely that the players were from the Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars squad.
The PCB said the players were tested for the virus on Wednesday afternoon after they felt symptoms. The PCB has said that it will hold a virtual meeting with management teams and franchise owners today.
The development comes a few days after three more persons– two foreign cricketers and a local ground support staff member — tested positive for the virus after Islamabad United cricketer Fawad Ahmed had also contracted the disease.
