ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health aide Dr Zafar Mirza tendered his resignation on Wednesday, shortly after Tania Aidrus, special assistant to PM on Digital Pakistan, quit her position.
The resignations came days in the backdrop of public backlash surrounding the dual nationalities of special assistants to the prime minister.
In a tweet Dr Mirza announced his resignation stating that it was a privilege to serve the country.
SAPM Tania Aidrus announced her resignation in a tweet citing the criticism levelled against her and the government due to her dual citizenship status as the reason.
“Criticism levied towards the state as a consequence of my citizenship status is clouding the purpose of Digital Pakistan,” she said in tweet, along with a picture of her resignation letter.
“In the greater public interest, I have submitted my resignation from the SAPM role. I will continue to serve my country and the PM’s vision to my best ability,” said Aidrus.
