LAHORE: The incumbent government is on crutches and it will fall on its own weight, said PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday, as she addressed a joint press conference with JUI-F and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Slamming the government for the recent hike in prices of essential commodities, Maryam said that this “people-enemy” government was standing on crutches. “The movement is now in the hands of the people and it will snatch the crutches away from the puppet government,” said Maryam.
She said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was in London for his treatment and will return to the country soon. Maryam said that Nawaz was the son of the soil, adding that neither she nor the PML-N supremo needed to get certificates of patriotism from anyone.
Speaking about the PDM’s upcoming political rally in Gujranwala, the PML-N vice president said that the opposition hadn’t even started its movement and the government was so scared of it.
JUI-F chief Fazl said that the incumbent government had failed to deliver on its promises to the people, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan was “sweating bullets” at the PDM’s movement.
Responding to a question from a journalist, Fazl said that the PML-N and the PDM did not have any conflict with Pakistan Army. Fazl said that the opposition did not favour political instability.
