Asad Umar warns public of restrictive actions over ‘unmistakable’ virus rise

ISLAMABAD: Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar has warned the public that they need to follow the  coronavirus rules in order to avoid facing new restrictive measures.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Asad Umar pointed out that there was a gradual surge in new cases of Covid-19.

“National positivity of covid cases was 2.37% yesterday. This is the highest positivity in more than 50 days. Last time this level was seen on aug 23. First 4 days of this week covid deaths average is 11 per day..highest since week of Aug 10th. Unmistakable signs of rise of corona,” the minister tweeted

In a second tweet, he said that Covid positivity was extremely high in Muzaffarabad, remains high in Karachi, rising in Lahore and Islamabad.

“Time for all of us to take covid sop’s seriously again. Otherwise, unfortunately we may have to take restrictive actions which have negative effects on peoples livelihoods,” he added.

His warning came after Pakistan reported the death of 13 people due to the pandemic in the last 24 hours.

In addition, at least 756 people have tested positive for the disease.
