Shafqat Mahmood slams ‘unruly’ behaviour of PML-N leaders at Mazar-e-Quaid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and National Herigtage and Culture Shafqat Mahmood has strongly condemned what he called the unruly behaviour of the PML-N leaders at the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

“As the Minister Incharge National Heritage and Culture that looks after the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar I strongly condemn the unruly and loutish behaviour of PMLN leadership at the grave of the founder of the nation,” Shafqat tweeted.

“This is how Safdar Awan and his wife Maryam Safdar show respect to Quaid e Azam. This kind of irresponsible and loutish behaviour has never been seen at the Mazar,” he added.

His tweet came after a video of Capt Safdar raising “vote ko izzad do” slogans in the presence of Maryam Nawaz, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Marriyum Aurgnzeb went viral on social media platforms.

The move angered supporters of the government and a section of media.

“This isn’t only low but a clear violation of Mazar-e-Quaid’s sanctity. Will there be any legal action taken against Safdar and Maryam Nawaz or rules and laws are only for a common person to follow?,” Sameena, a Twitter user, posted.
