LAHORE: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has called for the restoration of special quota for students of impoverished districts of Punjab, Balochistan and FATA.
The PML-N vice president made the remarks in a chat with media during a visit to a protest sit-in being staged by Balochistan’s students seeking restoration of their quota in the state-run universities of Punjab.
Maryam joined the protest camp, saying students are the future of Pakistan. She lamented that students from DG Khan, Rajanpur, [erstwhile] FATA, and Balochistan had to protest after 600 of their reserved seats were abolished.
مریم نواز pic.twitter.com/2Wcer3lghi

“They [protesting students] say that Punjab is the elder brother but I would say Balochistan is the elder brother,” she said.
She demanded the students’ quota be restored. “These students are demanding the right to education and no one has met them! ” “I am going to Quetta tomorrow, I will also raise the issue of students there,” she added.
Maryam said that Shahbaz Sharif had served Punjab wholeheartedly and that it was “not a favour but the right of the people that they got”.
“Shahbaz Sharif is being held in jail not due to corruption [charges], he is being punished for not going against his brother.”
