Shaniera Akram advises Pakistanis to ‘save money, save lives’ by holding small weddings

Wasim Akram’s wife Shaniera Akram on Saturday advised Pakistanis to hold small weddings due to the novel coronavirus in order to “save money, save lives”.

“I understand that in the past big weddings were a thing.But we are mid pandemic,why not take the opportunity & use this time to your advantage,keep it small,save lives & save some money.People will understand I promise.I had a very small wedding,Its ok,We survived, You will too!” she tweeted.

The NCOC released a number of new restrictions on Friday, according to which indoor weddings have been banned and public as well as private offices have been told to implement a 50% work-from-home policy to stem the spread of the virus.

The rule pertains to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzzafarabad, Mirpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Abbottabad. The decision will go into effect from November 20, 2020.

Indoor weddings have been banned in Pakistan in the latest coronavirus restrictions imposed by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC).

According to a notification issued on Friday, major cities with “high positivity and higher disease spread potential” have been asked to enforce the ban. “Only outdoor marriages allowed with upper limit of 1,000 persons,” read the NCOC notification.
