KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has summoned its important meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) on April 4.
This decision was taken during a meeting presided over by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. The party decided to hold its jalsa on April 4 and afterwards, a meeting of the CEC to decide on important issues such as resignations from the parliament.
The PPP had sought time from the 10-party opposition alliance, the PDM, on the issue of resignations from the assemblies. Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani had later held a press conference with Maryam Nawaz and informed the press that a PPP CEC meeting will give the final answer with respect to resigning from the parliament.

Sources said the two leaders spoke over the phone and agreed to continue the PDM alliance.
“The two leaders also agreed on holding negotiations to settle contentious issues,” said sources.
“Asif Zardari informed Fazl about the PPP’s decision to convene a CEC meeting on April 4,” added sources.
The two leaders discussed the nomination of the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate as well. Sources said the two leaders agreed on moving the court against Yousaf Raza Gillani’s defeat in the Senate chairman election.
