Imran Khan to review federal govt projects in Karachi
Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit Karachi today on a one-day visit to review and issue instructions on all federal government projects.
The prime minister is expected to reach in the afternoon and head a meeting at the Karachi port trust.
Imran Khan will be briefed about the projects that fall under the Karachi Transformation Project and issue instructions and directives on it.
He will further be briefed about the Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) project by Railway minister Azam Swati, after the meetings the PM is expected to visit the Hub Chowki, as added by the sources.
Karachi Transformation Package
After the destruction by the heavy rainfalls in the city of lights last year, the main roads and sites of the city were wounded up and life was disrupted, PM Imran Khan had then announced an Rs.1,100bn package for the development of the biggest city of Pakistan.
The Karachi Transformation Plan is referred to as a historic plan by PM Imran Khan which will solve problems ranging from water supply to transport as well as solid waste management.
When briefing the plan, Imran Khan had said that the first issue which the government will look forward to tackle is the city’s water supply, “Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme, known as K-IV. He stated that the city’s water supply would be restored in the next three years.
The prime minister also reassured that the transformation program would tackle the city’s sewerage and solid waste disposal problems as well.
the focus is also on reforming the transport system in Karachi, the Karachi Circular Railway, the Bus Rapid Transit, and other projects were included in the plan.
PM had further stated that this development project will be a three-year-long project with the first phase of the plan to work through a year and the rest will be implemented in the remaining two years.
