Hazara wins Zalmi Women’s Cricket League

PESHAWAR: Hazara defeated Peshawar All Stars in the final to win the second season of the Zalmi Women’s League played at Hayatabad Sports Complex.

In the final, Peshawar batted first and scored 59 runs for the loss of three wickets. Hazara successfully chased the target with three wickets down. Mahnoor Qayoom played a key role in the win by scoring 28 runs.

Zalmi superstar Mohammad Haris, Pakistan Test star Sajid Khan, Deputy Country Representative UN Women Jacqui Ketunuti, Country Representative UNFPA Dr. Luay Shabaneh, Secretary Sports Tashfeen, Secretary Education Kamran Afridi, UN Pakistan officials, and COO Peshawar Zalmi Mian Abbas Laeeq were present during the final.

In the first semifinal, Hazara Daffodils defeated Peshawar Thunder Bolts by 23 runs. Hazara, batting first, scored 77 runs without losing any wicket. In reply, Peshawar’s team could only score 54 runs for the loss of three wickets. Peshawar All Stars defeated Malakand in the second semifinal.

The event was organized by the Peshawar Zalmi and Zalmi Foundation in collaboration with Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ufone 4G, and UN Women reflecting a shared commitment to empowering women, providing equal opportunities, and enabling young players to progress in professional sports.

This year’s edition, while further strengthening the vision of “From Dream to Reality,” will prove to be an important milestone for the promotion of women’s cricket.
