KARACHI: PTM MNAs Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir were taken into custody on Tuesday as they joined a protest in Islamabad against the detention of Manzoor Pashteen.
Apart from two MNAs, several other PTM activists and workers of Awami Workers Party (AWP) were also detained by the capital city police.
The protesters were calling for the release of Manzoor Pashteen who was arrested from Peshawar two days ago on charges of sedition.
Taking to Twitter, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the police action and urged the government to act in line with the law and the constitution.
“I condemn the arrest of my NA colleagues @mjdawar & @aliwazirna50 and others protesting the detention of Manzoor Pashteen. The government would be well served by remembering its oath to uphold the constitution of Pakistan. Peaceful protest is not a crime,” Bilawal tweeted.
