Students and members of the LUMS faculty took to social media on Tuesday to register their strong protest against the university increasing its fee as the coronavirus pandemic continues to have disastrous effects on businesses and the overall economic situation of the country.
Taking to Twitter, netizens voiced their strong anger and disapproval over what some of them claimed was a 40% hike in fee. However, the backlash on social media caused LUMS to took to Twitter and stated that the fee hike “is entirely consistent with prior years and took into account extraordinary increases in inflation, energy costs and currency evaluation”.

let’s cut the BS for a second: the only reason LUMS thinks it can do this is because we don’t have student unions. any uni could be next. every powerful actor in this country has a stake in depriving students of political power and leverage. #LUMSFeeHike #RestoreStudentUnions

Enough with the infantilization. Enough with pretending to know what's best for us. Enough with the benevolent patriarch carricature.
What will help with my 'learning' is the reversal of this decision followed by an apology. #LUMSFeeHike https://t.co/TyVjf5nvbg
