ISLAMABAD: The government has referred the issue of fund allocation for a Hindu temple in Islamabad to the Council for Islamic Ideology (CII), a top official said.
The move came after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) halted the construction of the temple a few days after its ground-breaking.
Speaking to media Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri confirmed the the matter was referred to the council for deliberations.
He, however, claimed that minorities were enjoying equal rights in the country under the Constitution of Pakistan.
“The Constitution of Pakistan also guarantees equal rights, complete safety and security of the minorities,” it said.
Qadri further said taht the land for the temple was allotted by the previous PML-N government.
The Minister, however, said that funds for this project would be allocated on the recommendation of Council of Islamic Ideology.
