PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan’s wife passed away on Monday in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to media reports, her funeral prayer time will be confirmed later and she will be buried in Wali Bagh, Charsadda. She was the mother of ANP’s provincial president Aimal Wali Khan.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed condolence over the death of ANP leader Asfandyar Wali’s wife.
“My sympathies and prayers go to the bereaved family,” the president said, according to a President House press release.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and patience to the grieved family members to bear the loss with fortitude.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the death of ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan’s wife.
Sympathizing with the bereaved family, he prayed to Allah Almighty for forgiveness of the departed soul and patience to the family members.
It must be mentioned that Asfandyar Wali Khan did not contest the recent general elections held on February 8 for being unwell.
His son, Aimal Wali Khan contested for NA-25 Charsadda, the native constituency from where his father and grandfather Khan Abdul Wali Khan were elected to the National Assembly in the past.
However, he was unsuccessful as the PTI-backed independent candidate Fazal Muhammad Khan emerged the winner securing 100713 votes.
