At least three die in Karachi building explosion

KARACHI: At least three people have been killed and over a dozen are wounded in an explosion that struck  a residential building in Karachi.

The blast took place near the Maskan gate of Karachi University.

Rescuers and police reached the scene and shifted the dead and the injured to nearby hospitals.

The impact of the explosion was so severe that windowpanes of the nearby building were shattered.

The blast, whose nature is yet to be ascertained, happened on the second floor of the building, leaving many trapped under the rubble.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and IG Sindh police also took notice of the incident and summoned a report.

The chief minister directed authorities to ensure medical treatment for those injured in the incident and expressed grief over the loss of life.
