Cargo ship remains stranded in Karachi’s waters

Karachi: the cargo ship stuck at the Karachi’s Sea view couldn’t be freed even after several attempts on Wednesday. The authorities responsible have failed to free the cargo ship stuck at Karachi’s Sea View, despite the passing of 21 days.

The MV Heng Tong 77 stopped in Pakistan’s territorial waters last month when it lost its anchors due to irregular waves and drifted its way to the shore. The ship had to stop in Karachi for a crew change.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) officials have stated that they were unable to move the ship due to technical reasons. However, the second attempt to free the ship will take place today.

The ship will be pushed back into the sea with the help of heavy machinery. In July, the defueling of the ship had been done successfully.
