Coronavirus cases in Pakistan reach 297 as more test positive

ISLAMABAD: Another 19 people tested positive in Sindh on Wednesday, bringing the national tally of coronavirus cases to 297.

According to Sindh government’s figures, out of 302 tests conducted in Sukkur, 151 tested positive for coronavirus. In Sukkur, 57 have been affected by the novel coronavirus. Similarly, 33 coronavirus cases have been reported in Punjab, 13 in Gilgit Baltistan, seven in Islamabad, 19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16 in Balochistan and one was recorded in AJK.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s health aide Zafar Mirza denied media reports about the death of a person due to coronavirus in Gilgit Baltistan.

“I can confirm that until now there is no corona related death in Pakistan. Geo report about a death in GB is incorrect. The corona virus test of the patient is -ve. I request media reporters that in rush to break the news first, please don’t misreport,” Mirza said.

Earlier, he said that the Federal govt, provinces and all stake holders are working on war footing for safety & well being of people of Pk. All resources are mobilised and measures taken for prevention and mitigation.

PM reviews anti-corona measures

Prime Minister Imran Khan flew to Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan to review arrangements being made to test zaireens returning from corona-hit Iran.

reviewed the steps taken to prevent coronavirus outbreak.

Zaireen expressed happiness on the arrival of the Prime Minister and satisfaction over the facilities being provided to them.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and Chairman NDMA also accompanied the Prime Minister.

In addition, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has imposed complete ban on the marriage ceremonies and other events in private residents, in addition to ban in wedding halls and public places.
