President Arif Alvi said on Wednesday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will usher in an era of progress and development for the people of Balochistan.
Addressing the participants of the Sibi Mela, President Alvi said that the CPEC will bring with it special economic zones which will provide employment to the people and play a vital part in uplifting the economy.
He said that there was immense potential in Balochistan for a number of activities, such as livestock and fish farming. President Ali said that there was a special need to construct dams across the province so that water can be stored in them.
He condemned the recent bomb blasts in Quetta and other cities of Balochistan, saying that they could not shake the nation’s resolve and that such “isolated incidents” won’t hamper the country’s progress.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the steps taken by the provincial government to improve infrastructure in Balochistan, according to Radio Pakistan.
