Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh announce expecting first child

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone announced that she is expecting her first child with actor Ranveer Singh.

Deepika and Ranveer announced the news of her pregnancy on Instagram and said they are are expecting their first child in September this year.

Indian media recently reported that Deepika is currently in her second trimester and is soon expected to make the official announcement. The couple has now confirmed the news.

This leads to numerous congratulatory messages from celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Shreya Ghoshal, Neena Gupta, Masaba Gupta, Vikrant Massey, Mira Rajput, Neha Dhupia, Sonakshi Sinha, and many more.

“Mubarak,” wrote Priyanka in the comments section of Deepika-Ranveer’s post.

Alia shared a series of heart emojis in the comments. Shreya Ghoshal said she was both excited and happy for the couple. “Many congratulations,” she added.

Deepika and Ranveer, both 38, tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in 2018 at Lake Como, Italy.

In a statement given to Vogue Singapore in January 2024, Deepika expressed her anticipation for parenthood, saying, “Ranveer and I love children. We look forward to the day when we will start our own family.”

She also reflected on her upbringing, emphasising the importance of staying grounded despite fame and money.

“In this industry, it’s easy to get carried away by fame and money. But no one treats me like a celebrity at home. I am a daughter and a sister first. I don’t want that to change. My family keeps me grounded and Ranveer and I hope to inculcate the same values in our children.”
