Dr Hafeez Sheikh tests positive for Coronavirus

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s outoing finance minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh has tested positive for coronavirus, becoming the latest Pakistan official to contract the disease.

This was shared by new Finance Minister Hammad Azhar on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

The finance minister also prayed for the swift recovery and good health of Sheikh.

This comes a day after Dr Sheikh was removed as the federal finance minister over matters of taxation and bill-granting autonomy to the State Bank of Pakistan.

He was asked by Prime Minister Imran Khan to leave the charge.

Hammad Azhar shared the news of his appointment: “I am honoured to be entrusted with the additional charge of Finance by the Prime Minister.”
