The Pakistani movie, The Legend of Maula Jatt which broke all box offices records and is deemed to be the biggest blockbuster of Pakistani cinema was set to release in India on December 30. This would have been the first Pakistani film to release in India after 11 years. The Bilal Lashari directorial masterpiece was slated to be released in Indian Punjab and Indian capital Delhi.
The movie was supposed to be released in India by Zee Studios, however the movie needed clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. The movie was earlier cleared by the CBFC but now it has been ‘recalled’, hence the release has been postponed.
Maula Jatt has a stellar cast of Fawad Khan playing the titular role Maula Jatt, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malik and Gohar Rasheed among others. The film released worldwide in October and had gotten accolades for it grandeur and the performances.
The film is an adaption of the 1979 classic with the same name starring Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi playing Maula Jatt and Noori Nath respectively.
Maula Jatt has done a business of more than 200 crores since its release and has been the biggest achievement for the Pakistani entertainment industry in the year 2022.
