ISLAMABAD: Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry has questioned the legal standing of senators who got elected after bribing members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry wrote: “The bribe takers have been caught, now the media is requested to do a little research to find out who became a senator in 2018 with these votes.”
The minister urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take action against the senators under Article 63 of the Constitution.
“Do these two senators have the right to be in the House? The Election Commission should also fulfill its responsibility and take action under Article 63,” he said.
His tweet came a day after the sitting justice minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and several others MPAs were allegedly seen accepting bribe before the 2018 Senate elections.
The minister denied the allegations, saying the video was doctored.
