Govt decides to close all educational institutions from Nov 26

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to close all educational institutes in the country from November 26 in light of the novel coronavirus.

“On January 11, 2021, all educational institutions will reopen,” he said. “Students should stay at home and continue their learning.”

The decision has been made during the ongoing Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) convened to discuss school closures, chaired by the Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood.

He announced that the decision had been taken after holding talks and forming a consensus with all education ministers of Pakistan’s provinces.

“All ministers have mutually decided that to keep all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and tuition centres closed. However, online classes will continue from November 26 to December 24 after which winter break will start. Schools will reopen on January 11, 2021,” he said during the news conference.

The federal education minister announced that from November 26 to December 24, schools will remain closed. However, he said that from December 25 to January 10, students will be granted winter vacations. From January 11, all educational institutions will be reopened.

The education minister also clarified that no exams will take place in December except for scheduled entrance examinations, including the MDCAT 2020.
