Speaking to a private news channel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Hammad Azhar said that the government was aiming to raise the tax to GDP ration from three percent to four percent.
“Efforts are being made to reduce the current account and the fiscal deficits,” he said.
Hammad said that the government aimed to increase the tax to GDP ratio to four percent by the end of the year.
Hammad said that the government had decided to avoid taking loans from the State Bank of Pakistan. He said that the incumbent government had taken loans to pay back the interest on loans taken by the previous governments.
He said that previous governments had taken loans but had not generated sources of revenue to pay back the same.
