Imran Khan invites Hamid Karzai to Afghanistan conference
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended an invitation for former Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai to attended a proposed special conference in Islamabad.
“Pakistan continues its efforts for the stability and security of Afghanistan Prime Minister Imran Khan recently spoke to former Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the phone,” tweeted Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday
“Pakistan is hosting a special conference on Afghanistan. The details of this conference will be revealed soon,” he said.
Chaudhry added that the most important Afghan leadership, including Hamid Karzai, has been invited to attend the proposed conference.
“We hope that this important development will give rise to new hopes for a solution to Afghanistan’s problems,” concluded the minister.
The move comes following reports that Islamabad intends to host a special conference aimed at encouraging intra-Afghan dialogue for restoration of peace following the withdrawal of US and allied countries from the war-torn country.
