ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday put his weight behind a proposed legislation to approve chemical castration as punishment for those convicted of rape.
In a chat with TV anchor Mood Pirzada, Prime Minister Khan said: “I think that convicts should undergo castration. This is happening in several countries. I have been reading about it. In a case of first degree rape, offenders must undergo surgical castration to prevent them from repeating the offense.”
This is the first time Imran Khan has commented on the motorway incident which has sent shock-waves throughout the country.
A woman was subjected to gang rape in the presence of her three kids after her car ran out of fuel on motorway in the outskirts of Lahore.
One suspect was arrested while raids were being conducted to nab the second accused, Abid Ali, a resident of Fort Abbas.
PM Imran Khan has also said that repeat sexual offenders should be castrated; we wanted to be sure of Govt intentions before going on air with it, but Govt is serious we are told pic.twitter.com/mIB3n5Y8hZ
