ISLAMABAD: Quetta Gladiators import Shane Watson on Thursday expressed his joy at meeting former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Australian cricketer was among a group of former foreign cricketers who called on Prime Minister Khan at his official residence in Islamabad on Wednesday.
“This was incredibly special for me to meet and chat with one of my cricketing hero’s, the Great All-Rounder, Imran Khan. What an inspiring life he has lived on and off the cricket field!!! So amazing to hear Sir Viv, Greg Chappell and Imran relive the good old days!!!,” Watson tweeted.
West Indies’ Richards recalled his battles with PM Imran, adding that the sports industry was flourishing under his former rival’s leadership.
“When Imran Khan was the captain, the matches between Pakistan and West Indies were always exciting,” Richards said.
“It is pleasing to see the revival of the sport in the country.”
The prime minister said that “foreign cricketers’ services for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan will always be remembered.”
