DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar said on Thursday that the Indian Army was playing “dangerous games” along the Line of Control (LoC) but the Pakistan Army stood ready to respond to any misadventure against the Indian Armed Forces.
Holding his first ever press conference, the new head of the military’s media wing said that there was no space for war between two nuclear-armed states. He spoke on February 27, 2019 and said that it was a bright day in the history of Pakistan.
The DG ISPR said that Pakistan Army had shown the world that it had the capability to strike back when it shot down two IAF jets and captured Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
“Whether there are internal or external dangers, we are ready. The military is aware of our enemy’s covert operations,” he said. “Pakistan is keeping an eye on the Indian military’s preparedness.”
He said that the issue of occupied Kashmir had morphed into an international crisis and was not an issue between two countries anymore.
“Life has come to a halt in the region. There is a communication lock-down. This is not a regional issue between the two [countries any longer]; it is one of the biggest humanitarian issues [in the world today].”
“International media, human rights organisations have condemned the move,” he added.
