ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak said Monday that he enjoyed as the PML-N and the PPP as well as the JUI-F ‘deceived’ each other in the recently-held elections for the post of Senate chairman and deputy chairman.
“Everyone took revenge on each other… I had a lot of fun and this game will continue,” said Khattak, in reference to the elections of the upper house chairman and deputy chairman. Both candidate’s of the PDM, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of the JUI-F were defeated by the government’s candidates Sadiq Sanjrani and Mirza Muhammad Afridi.
Khattak said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was also deceived in the elections, with the minister adding that the PDM will continue to trick each other in the near future as well.
The defence minister urged the JUI-F chief to leave the PDM’s presidency.
“He should come to his senses and leave the PDM’s presidency. Tomorrow, if they march for a sit-in, they would leave ‘Maulana’ halfway through,” he said.
