Motorway gang rape: Police identity prime suspect after DNA match

LAHORE: In a major breakthrough, Lahore police have identified the prime suspect of motorway gang rape case following his NDA match.

The suspect has been identified by police as Abid Malhi, a resident of Fort Abbas town of Bahawalnagar.

According to sources, DNA of suspect Abid Malhi was matched from the sample obtained from the dress of the victim.  A team of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) is conducting raids for the arrest of the suspect who is still at large,

The suspect is a serial sex offender and is involved in robberies.

In 2013, he “along with a group of friends” had barged into a home and raped a mother and daughter His DNA had a match in the police database.

According to sources, Punjab police chief will address a press conference to share the progress made in the investigations.
