KARACHI: The National Command and Operation Centre announced that it would extend full support to the Sindh government in combatting the spread of the Coronavirus in Karachi.
The move comes as virus positivity rate continued to hover above 50 percent in some districts of the country’s commercial capital.
The district with the highest vaccination coverage in the country is Karachi’s District East with over 56% of the adult population having received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.
“During the NCOC meeting held today, the forum critically reviewed disease spread in Karachi and decided to take all possible measures to assist Sindh Government in combating the rising trend of disease,” it said in a statement on Twitter.
The measures being undertaken by Federal Government include ramp up of critical care capacity including oxygenated beds & vents, availability of oxygen and deployment of LEAs for implementation of SOPs and NPIs.
On the other hand, the Sindh government is expected to take a decision whether or not impose a full lockdown in Karachi which is reeling under the fourth wave of the virus.
