Pakistan records second highest daily increase in Covid-19 cases amid fears of pandemic’s second wave
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported second highest daily increase in Coronavirus cases in 7 weeks with 798 news cases reported in the last 24 hours.
According to latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Center on Friday morning, total confirmed cases are now 309,015 and of these 95.4% have recovered.
Data shows that new virus cases have risen sharply after the opening of educational institutions on September 15.
Another seven people have died during this period, taking the national tally of fatalities to 6,444.
At least 37, 504 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and out of which 798 came out positive.
Sindh continues to remains the worst-hit province with 135, 246 cases, followed by Punjab which has 98, 864 positive cases. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 37, 525 virus cases while Islamabad is fourth with 16, 324 cases.
According to some observers, the study increase in the new Coronavirus cases can only be called as the second wave of China-born pandemic.
