Pakistan reports over 2,400 Covid-19 cases

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday reported more than 2,4 00 cases of Novel Coronavirus, taking the total to 356, 904.

The National Command and Operation Centre also recorded 34 falsities, increasing the number of deaths by the pandemic to 7, 141.

As many as 39, 410 got tested for the disease in the last 24 hours and of them 2, 443 turned out to be positive,. it said.

According to the NCOC, infection rate for daily new Coronavirus cases has climbed to 8.3% in Sindh.

Education ministers to meet

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that he had convened a meeting of provincial educational ministers to decide on closure of schools in the wake of the second wave of the Covid-19.

“We have convened an important meeting of provincial education ministers on Monday at 11 am to discuss the latest coronavirus situation in the country. As stated before health of students is our no one priority,” Mahmood said.

Virus death toll

:The virus has so far killed at least 1,313,471 people globally since the outbreak emerged in China, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP.

At least 54,001,750 cases  have been registered. Of these, at least 34,599,700 are now considered recovered.

Many countries are testing only symptomatic or the most serious cases.

Over Saturday, 9,246 new deaths and 607,998 new cases were recorded worldwide.

Based on latest reports, the countries with the most new deaths were US with 1,351 fatalities, followed by Brazil with 921 and Mexico with 635.
