Pakistan virus death toll surges past 3,000: NCOC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday confirmed the death of another 118 people due to the coronavirus, taking the nationwide tally of fatalities to 3, 093.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 5,358 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

As of Thursday, June 18, there are 60,138 coronavirus cases in Punjab, 59,983 in Sindh, 19,613 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8,794 in Balochistan, 9,637 in Islamabad, 1,213 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 740 in Azad Kashmir.

At least 1,202 people have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 916 in Sindh, 755 in KP, 94 in Islamabad, 93 in Balochistan, 18 in GB and 15 in Azad Kashmir.

A total of 982,012 coronavirus tests were conducted and of them 160, 115 59,215 turned out to be infected with the virus.
