RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday to discuss Pakistan’s security situation.
The meeting comes a day after protests broke out in several cities of Pakistan over the arrest of Saad Hussain Rizvi, the head of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan.
Hundreds of TLP protesters blocked busy roads in several cities, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
At least two people are believed to have died in the clashes between police and protesters.
In some areas of the city, protestors burnt tyres and pelted stones at vehicles and security personnel.
The protests have continued for a second day as well, but are limited to certain areas.
The majority of the demonstrations are taking place in Lahore.
