ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan himself permitted PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s speech to be broadcast, according to a report in Geo News.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the All Parties Conference (APC) on Sunday along with PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and called for a change in the political status quo.
However, sources told Geo News that the prime minister himself allowed Nawaz’s speech to be broadcast, rejecting suggestions from cabinet members to write a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban Nawaz’s address.
According to sources, the PM was told that there were court orders in which the culprit was barred from making statements on media, suggesting that PEMRA should implement such decisions.
“Nawaz Sharif will expose himself to the people with his speech. He [Nawaz Sharif] is lying so let him lie,” PM Imran responded, as per sources.
