LAHORE: PML-M President Shehbaz Sharif has tested positive for novel coronavirus, his party said on Thursday.
Confirming the news, PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar has appealed to the nation to pray for quick recovery of the opposition leader.
“Shehbaz Sharif’s life was put in danger by summoning before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under such circumstances,” Tarar said. “The NAB was informed several times that Shehbaz Sharif was a cancer patient and his immunity is weaker than normal people. It was also requested to record his statement through video link.”
“Apart from appearing before the NAB, Shehbaz Sharif did not meet or visit anyone else. He has quarantined himself at his Model Town residence and is following the doctors’ advice.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan and the anti-corruption watchdog will be responsible if something happens to the opposition leader.”
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Shehbaz Sharif had tested positive for COVID-19 last night and has isolated himself at home.
“Shehbaz Sharif remained a cancer patient and the NAB was repeatedly informed about his health. The anti-graft body was also requested to record his statement via video link. He was getting himself tested regularly,” she said.
