PML-N’s Ata Tarar, three others granted bail
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ata Tarar and three other PML-N party workers were released on bail Monday, as per Gujranwala police.
Ata Tarar and the other PML-N leaders were arrested a day earlier on charges of attacking a police station, threatening police officers and tearing their uniforms.
The PML-N leaders had said that Alipur Chatha police had arrested Ata Tarar with scores of his supporters.
The incident was condemned by PML-N leadership, including the party’s vice president Maryam Nawaz who told the government to “have shame”.
Speaking to the media outside the police station after getting bail., Ata Tarar said he and his supporters had been subjected to political victimisation at the hands of the government.
Tarar said he was arrested on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the principal secretary of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
Ata Tarar said he had arrived at the police station after Gujranwala police arrested only PML-N workers following their clash with PTI workers.
