KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Aftab Siddiqui on Sunday slammed the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and the Clifton Cantonmnent Board (CBC), promising to hold them accountable for their lackluster performance.
PTI MNA Aftab Siddiqui said he would hold DHA accountable and demanded an audit report from the housing authority, adding that he would raise his voice in parliament against them.
“Water never accumulated here for more than three days after rains,” Siddiqui said. This happened because “the drainage system of these areas is not working”, he added, noting that he would also seek help from the civil society to address these issues.
Meanwhile, PTI MPA Shehzad Qureshi regretted the situation and demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi take notice of the situation that had emerged during and after the heavy spell of rains.
On Thursday night, torrential rains struck parts of Sindh and Karachi, flooding many houses and streets. This led to power outages in many areas of Karachi, especially DHA, as power outages lasted for 72 hours in some areas.
