LAHORE: PTI’s Jahangir Tareen arrived at the Allama Iqbal International Airport after seven months, giving rise to rumours and political speculation.
Tareen, who arrived with his son Ali Tareen, came on the UAE-based Emirates Airline from London via Dubai.
Speaking to media at the airport, the PTI’s former secretary-general said that he had been going to London for the past seven years to get a medical check-up. When asked about the Opposition, Tareen said he did not need to reply to them as their only job was to hurl allegations at him.
“Thanks to the Almighty all my business is clean,” he clarified.
Tareen managed to go to London at a time when his name came up in the sugar scandal, when the Sugar Inquiry Commission (SIC) stated his name in a report, accusing him of being among several sugar mills’ owners who benefitted from the artificial hike in sugar prices.
Tareen has denied allegations of financial embezzlement or any untoward practice.
