LAHORE: The Punjab government will soon procure a million doses of the coronavirus vaccine, said provincial health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Thursday.
The minister said the purchase of the doses will be made after the federal cabinet grants approval of it. The minister was chairing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the status of vaccine procurement and preparation.
During the meeting, she said local production of the coronavirus vaccine will be possible in 6-10 months.
Discussing the responsibilities of procuring the vaccine, Dr Yasmin said a technical advisory group had been constituted under Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Special Secretary Babar Aman to buy coronavirus vaccines. The group will share its recommendations within two days.
According to Geo News, she said the Punjab government was using its all-out resources to ensure the pandemic was controlled and was also vaccinating the elderly.
