Veteran actor Anwar Iqbal passed away this morning, confirmed a family member. The funeral prayers will be held today after Isha Prayers. His cause of death remains unknown.
The actor was severely ill for a few days and on Saturday, had circulated a message was circulated asking for prayers of his health on social media.
“I have been chronically ill for some time and have been getting the best treatment possible under the supervision of Karachi’s best board of doctors,” he had said.
The veteran television actor and director had achieved fame with his work on the hit drama series Shama. He made his directorial debut with the drama Ishq Pecha in 1984 and directed some Urdu and Sindhi dramas.
Some of his notable works include Pul Sirat, Hina ki Khushboo, Rishta Anjana Sa.
While he was successful Anwar faced some drawbacks in his career when he produced his first and last Balochi film, it sparked controversy, and was subsequently forced to stop screening.
