Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan cricket captain and swashbuckling all-rounder, described the recent clash between Pakistan and West Indies as “stunning”.
The nail-biting Test match went down to the wire on Sunday when Pakistan lost to the hosts by a single wicket.
Given 168 runs to chase, the West Indies managed to do so successfully, though not without hiccups. Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hassan Ali gave the hosts a run for their money, taking quick wickets.
However, a few dropped catches ended up costing Pakistan the match. Shahid Afridi commended Shaheen Afridi and others for bowling well. Shahid Afridi also said that Pakistan, had they improved their batting, could have succeeded in going one up in the series.
“Stunning Test match! Brilliant fight by Pakistan led by Shaheen and Hasan Ali, credit to West Indies for the victory, Pakistan could have won with a better batting display. This was Test cricket at it’s best, all the best to Babar and boys for 2nd match,” Shahid Afridi tweeted.

West Indies beat Pakistan in first Test
In a nerve-wracking Test match, West Indies defeated Pakistan by one wicket in the first game played at Sabina Park on Sunday, AFP reported.
Chasing 168 for victory, Kemar Roach hit the winning runs late on the fourth day as the veteran seam bowler ended undefeated on 30.
“I just stayed positive and was just trying to take on every ball as it came,” said 34-year-old Roach.
“I was just trying to pick the gaps and run hard. Just believing and backing myself.”
Jermaine Blackwood scored 55 runs while Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed four wickets in the second innings of the match.
