COLOMBO: In a major blow to Gale Gladiators in their campaign for the Lanka Premier League, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi returned to Pakistan on Wednesday citing a personal emergency.
Afridi is captaining the Gladiators in the opening edition of the Lankan league.
“Unfortunately I have a personal emergency to attend to back home. I will return to join back my team at LPL immediately after the situation is handled. All the best,” Afridi tweeted.

Shahid Afridi was in menacing form against the Jaffna Stallions on Friday, when smashed a 20-ball fifty, his joint fastest in the T20 format, and eventually was dismissed for a 23-ball 58.
His innings was studded with 3 fours and 6 sixes.
Interestingly, Afridi hit a score of 50 plus in T20 cricket for the first time in 3 years. His last, was for the Hampshire in the 2017 T20 Blast game against Derbyshire. Over there as well he smashed a fifty of 20 balls and then eventually went on to turn it into a big one. The innings was his lone century in the T20 format.
