ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz on Monday spoke out against the arrest of opposition leader and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in a money laundering case.
Taking to Twitter shortly after Sharif’s arrest, Maryam Nawaz said: “Make no mistake. Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested ONLY because he REFUSED to play in the hands of those who wanted to use him against his brother.”
“He preferred standing behind prison bars than to stand against his brother. Shahbaz Sharif, aap ko SALAM!,” she said.
The PML-N, however, said that the PTI government would not be able to safe its false and fake mandate even by arresting Shahbaz Sharif.
“Whatever decisions have been taken by the PML-N delegation led by Shahbaz Sharif in the APC, every PML-N worker will remain steadfast on these promises. God willing! Today we are all Shahbaz Sharif!,” she promited.
In another tweet, Maryam said: “If there was accountability and justice in this country, not Shahbaz Sharif, Asim Saleem Bajwa and his family would have been arrested.”
She was referring to allegations that Asif Bajwa’s wife and kids had set up dozens of foreign companies.
