ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his shock and grief over the crash of a Pakistan International Airlines plane in Karachi.
At least 107 people including crew members were aboard the plane which went down on a residential neighborhood adjacent to Jinnah International Airport.
The Pakistani army said its quick reaction force and paramilitary troops have reached the site for relief and rescue efforts alongside civil administration.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, PM Khan said that an immediate inquiry would be instituted to determine the cause of the crash.
“Shocked & saddened by the PIA crash. Am in touch with PIA CEO Arshad Malik, who has left for Karachi & with the rescue & relief teams on ground as this is the priority right now. Immediate inquiry will be instituted. Prayers & condolences go to families of the deceased,” Khan tweeted.
