No, the state bank has not discontinued the Rs5,000 note

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday assured people that it had not discontinued the Rs5000 note and that it was certainly in circulation.

The state bank requested people not to pay attention to any unverified reports that the note had been discontinued by the central bank. The SBP said that if it ever decided to take such an action, it would announce the same well in advance and provide ample time to public to change the currency under demonetization/discontinuation process.

Since all information is updated on the SBP’s website and its social media platforms, the general public may also check announcements there before forwarding the same to their contacts.
