‘The Imran I knew’: Jemima Khan slams PM Imran Khan for comments on rape

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Khan, on Wednesday criticised her husband for his statement on the rape of women, saying the Imran Khan she knew was more about men acting modestly than policing women.

A few days ago, the prime minister answered a caller on live television, who has asked him about his government’s action against rape and sexual violence towards women and minors.

The prime minister responded by saying his government would enact laws but it was up to society to fight the menace as well.

PM Imran Khan had then gone on to say that vulgarity spreading across the society had an impact on Pakistan as well, where some men who were unable to control their willpower, subjected women and minors to sexual violence.

His statement drew strong responses from women’s and rights groups, who blamed the premier for justifying rape and sexual violence.

She narrated another incident about a woman she met in Saudi Arabia, who was harassed by young men despite wearing a proper abaya.
