Three Pakistani troops killed in cross-border Indian firing

KARACHI: Three Pakistan Army jawans embraced martyrdom when Indian border forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control, the ISPR announced on Thursday. 

In retaliatory fire, the Pakistan Army destroyed several Indian bunkers, killing at least five soldiers and leaving several others wounded.

Intermittent exchange of fire is still under way.

The martyred Pakistani soldiers have been identified as Naik Tanveer, Lance Naik Taimoor and Sepoy Ramazan. Naik Tanveer and Sepoy Ramazan were from Khanewal while Lance Naik Taimoor was from Lahore.

In a statement, ISPR chief Major General Asif Ghafoor called the firing an “effort to divert attention from the precarious situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir”.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has condemned the attack and said expressed his condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers.
