At least two people have been killed and more than two dozens are wounded in a blast near Lahore’s Anarkali Bazaar area on Thursday.
Police believe an improvised explosive device (IED) was used to carry out the attack.
Windows of nearby shops and buildings were left shattered by the explosion, while motorcycles parked near the site of the blast were damaged.
The deceased include a man identified as Ramzan, 31, who was a resident of Ferozewala and a 9-year-old child identified as Absar.
The police official said the blast caused a 1.5 feet-deep crater in the ground. The injured have been shifted to Mayo Hospital.
Scores of visitors throng to the Anarkali area every day where a number of markets and a variety of business centres are located.
Mayo Hospital officials said four people are in critical condition, with the doctors trying to save their lives. The medics have given first aid to other injured people.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umer Sher Chattha said the blast took place at 1:45, while the safe city cameras would be used to track down the culprits.
